Mobile Makers alumni have changed their own lives by learning to code, but they didn’t want to stop there. It’s our pleasure to introduce the Mobile Makers Alumni Alliance, a ragtag gang of iOS developers eager to become a force for good in our community.
The idea behind the Alliance is simple: it’s an alumni-run, non-profit partner of Mobile Makers. It aims to provide an arena for alumni to continue learning and building stuff, help fellow alumni, and ultimately make a difference in our community through the power of mobile apps.
On the roster of Alliance activities is Code Theatre, a recurring gathering to be held every other Tuesday in our Chicago space. Members may present, teach, and ask for help from the group, then we’ll all code and watch a movie together. Our first Code Theater in Chicago starts June 2 at 6:30pm, and San Francisco events are coming soon!
On the weekend of July 10, the Alliance and Mobile Makers Academy will co-host a hackathon with a local non-profit organization, open to the public. We’re really excited about this one, so be sure to like our Facebook Page to catch more details as the date approaches.
There will be plenty more where this came from. As Aleshia Howell, the mastermind of the Alliance, put it in the announcement to our alumni group:
“We have the chance to create something special in our tech communities. Let's show everyone what Mobile Makers are made of.”
